Basel-Stadt

Each canton has a separate constitution, the constitution was made in 1889; Basel-Stadt joined the Swiss confederation in 1501. Since it’s a half canton it’s cannot have more than one representative in the council of states. Grosser Rat is the canton’s parliament and has 130 members who are elected after four years; it is a multi party system with eight political parties represented in the parliament.

The Canton’s capital is the city of Basel which is the second largest city in Switzerland. Basel has a lot of activities to offer to the visitors, excursions and sight seeing, the old town hall is must see.
